Cupping TherapyCupping Therapy is one of the common used Chinese Medicine techniques in which a local suction is created on the skin; It functions as promoting blood flow in order to relieve the symptoms.By utilizing either heat or suction, the skin is gently drawn upwards over the affected area of the skin due to negative pressure. The cup is retained for 5 to 15 minutes. It is indicated for the common soft tissue problems such as scaring tissue, muscle knots, and swelling.
Massage oil may be applied to create a better seal as well as allow the cups to glide over muscle groups, which is called "moving cupping". Dark circles may appear where the cups were placed due to rupture of the capillaries just under the skin, but will disappear in 2 to 10 days.
Cupping is not advised over skin ulcers or to the abdominal or sacral regions of pregnant women.
